Mekhala & Dylan's Intimate Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge Wedding | Published Calgary Wedding Photographer

Hello blog viewers and pals!

Thanks for being here and checking out another wedding blog of mine!

I know I say this a lot but THIS wedding was super special to me! All my weddings are really special but this one in particular was reallly reallly special.

The Groom is a dear friend of mine. He is also my sometimes assistant / best lighting ninja / sometimes videographer who recently killed it at Banff Springs / associate photographer / student that I mentor / fellow talented creative / smoke bomb master / all around awesome dude, Dylan Foster.

He and Mekhala have been pals of mine ever since I met them and I was not only super flattered but honoured when they chose me to document their special day this year. Mekhala has been victim to one of my virtual photoshoots and was drop dead gorgeous when we worked together thay day. Thanks for letting me use you as a guinea pig that day pal!

This day was filled with a lot of love and laughs with just their closest family and friends surrounding them. My personal favorite part of the day would have had to be this night shot of the champagne being popped. I told Dylan to go for it with making it pop (shake it!!) and I am not sure if he was trying to get back at me for all the assistant things I make him do but this champagne shot left me soaked and hit me right in the head. LOL! I smelled like a party driving home that night.

Dylan and I watch a lot of other couples get married and to see him on the other side of the lens with Mekhala and all his favorite people was so heartwarming. I legit couldn’t stop smiling all day. His reaction to Mekhala when first seeing her at the Ceremony was so emotional, I don’t think anyone present had dry eyes at that moment.

These two are so in love and I am so so happy they can finally say they are married now!

Thank you so much for having Liam and I there that day pals.

xo. Sof.

Some words from the Newlyweds themselves:

Together our favorite moment of our elopement was hands down the ceremony. We felt completely alone as we spoke our vows and embraced each other. We were flooded with nerves, excitement, and love as we tied the knot with our close friends and family. We had to endure so much uncertainty, change, and sacrifice leading up to our wedding but it was all worth it to say I do in front of the picturesque landscape of the Kananaskis mountains.

During the start of the ceremony Mekhala's favorite moment was seeing Dylan's eyes filled with tears as he turned around for the first look.

And for Dylan it was seeing Mekhala for the first time in her gorgeous wedding dress.

The best advice we have for couples planning a wedding during a pandemic is to embrace the uncertainty and not lose sight of why you are getting married.
