Christine + Chris | Canmore Nordic Center Summer Wedding
“You must get sick of always shooting weddings Sof”
I laugh when people say this.
Every single wedding I shoot could not be more unique. The couples are so different, the families, the guests, the decor, everything that happens that day. Sure I have seen a lot of the same dresses before but even they look completely different everytime I photograph them.
I am noticing a new trend in weddings and it’s one I am totally here for. Chris and Christine asked me to approach their wedding with a hands off method. No direction at all. I directed for only a short amount of time, some family and wedding party photos (maybe 15 minutes?) and then a few cues during the couple’s portrait times. That’s it. The rest of the day I just photographed what caught my eye and never told anyone what to do or where to stand.
I LOVE working like this and more couples want this lately. YES!
Instead of a long portrait session during the day we opted for lil mini 5 minute sessions throughout the day. We had a total of 4 mini sessions for portraits of the Bride and Groom this wedding day. One right after the ceremony, one literally in their reception space when this GORGEOUS golden light was pouring in the window (this was more like a 90 second portrait stint), once more at twilight and finally a night shoot.
Thank you so much for asking Steve and I to be your wedding photographer team Chris and Christine, we loved watching you two get married, hearing all the heartfelt speeches that night and getting to join the delicious dinner that evening. We loved hearing how you two golf together so much and it really has inspired us to do the same.
Steve and I wish you nothing but the best in your new marriage and hope your golf games were even better this summer married.
Please enjoy your blog premiere tonight. Hope ya got some wine!
xo. Sof.
