Gordon & Megan's Private Estate Sherwood Park Wedding
This wedding was extra special for me. Here is why:
The Groom’s Sister, Heather is a very dear friend of mine.
I adore this girl.
I first met Heather in Edmonton, we were on a fashion lookbook photoshoot together and she was the sole makeup artist for her company Blush Artistry at this time. That shoot resulted to us both on the phone later that month and after the phone call I thought, hey I like her. So after I ended up recommending her for a couple of my weddings including a close high school friend of mine and a really amazing Jasper wedding we worked together and slowly we found ourselves working on the same gigs side by side. I remember the last Blush Artistry team shoot I shot for Heather and told her how proud I was of her. She is now the leading beauty agency in Edmonton representing the city’s best makeup and hair artists and has even launched an online store and school recently. Eventually I even took my first helicopter ride ever with her and her partner for a summit high photoshoot they asked me to shoot for them.
As I started to do more international weddings I had realized I really needed an incredible makeup artist to come with me on these trips. One that was also a friend. We have traveled to Iceland, Vegas and Mexico just the two of us to work on some really incredible and once in a lifetime wedding gigs together. Over those trips we shared many heartfelt conversations. Those conversations almost always are about the love she has for her family and her partner Cameron.
This year Cameron, Heather and I were to be in France for a wedding on this very date. We didn’t end up being able to go but instead all found ourselves still being involved in another special wedding instead. Heather’s Brother Gordon finally married his girlfriend Megan. Heather did the makeup and Cameron was the officiant that day and I got to take photos.
Funny how things work.
To Megan and Gordon:
I know how many incredible and talented photographers you both had to choose from so I really really appreciate you asking me to document this day for you. Thank you so much for having me be there that day.
I feel like I have known all of you through Heather’s stories over the years. It was extra special to document your family this beautiful wedding day and finally get to meet all these wonderful people I have heard so much about.
Thanks for having me there and I hope you enjoy reliving your wedding day through my eyes.
xo. Sof.

From the Bride & Groom:
Our wedding story probably isn’t the common “covid postponing” tail that sadly, so many couples are telling right now. Our planning started DURING covid (since our dream of eloping to New York was crushed.. for now anyways). The main thing that was important to us was just being married and waiting for the world to reopen seemed to be too long of a wait to stand in our way.
We pulled together our day (proudly) in just under three months - with plenty of help and referrals of course! Our loving friends and family really came through to help make the day as magical as it was. Every detail as small as table clothes to as large as the venue was gifted, borrowed or made just for us.
There were A LOT of amazing people in our lives that we wanted to share the day with but because of restrictions it just couldn’t happen. But the main gal that wasn’t able to make it was our sweet girl, Rosie. Our rescue German Shepherd. Gordon got Rosie in 2008, 3 years before we met. She was the sweetest dog. She was always ecstatic every time we would walk in the door, and everyone loved her. In fact, it was Rosie that truly brought us together. Megan recognized quickly how much Gordon cared for Rosie, and what it takes to care for something that relies solely on you to be healthy and happy. On the other hand, Gordon realized how much Megan had cared for Rosie, even though it was not her dog (yet). Megan did not have animals growing up so taking care of Rosie was a new thing, and she took to it like glue becoming (in Gordon’s opinion) the best dog mom, always letting Rosie in the bed and giving her the biggest snuggles.
She was the biggest missing piece of our wedding day puzzle sadly passing just weeks before we said our “I Do’s”. But we know she was looking down on us with those big brown eyes wagging her tail!
As memorable as the entire day was, the groomsmen put on a next level, larger than life, firework show captivating our guests for TWELVE minutes. That, along with dancing until the DJ shut us down were a couple of the highlights of our day.
Since the day, we are often asked “how’s married life?” and we always say “exactly the same” and we wouldn’t have it any other way <3
