I met these two at a wedding years ago at the stunning Emerald Lake Lodge for Meg and Matt’s wedding. The whole crew of friends struck me as so friendly and I felt incredibly welcome. I’ve since then became pals with many people that were in that reception room that night and Christine and Martin are definitely on that list. They had reached out to me to photograph their Canadian reception after getting married in Scotland and after a very friendly chat these two decided to bring me along to Scotland for the main wedding day as well. A dream wedding shoot come true for me. Thank you again for bringing me over to Europe you two. A week I will never forget.
Christine and Martin had their ceremony and reception at the iconic St. Andrew in the Square in downtown Glasgow Scotland. This building blew me away with the history and how very European it looked. Make sure you check out our rainy evening shot from this wedding, literally steps out the door of their big party. Christine’s giant wedding skirt was gorgeously paired with a lace shirt and watching the girls just try to steam this on the morning of the wedding was hilarious. Not to mention getting her in the vehicle to head to the wedding.
These two had one of the most amazing first looks I have been part of. You could just tell how much it meant to both of them to finally be getting married. To be able to witness and watch this first look was a privilege. The places I get to be while shooting weddings still amaze me today. The access my couple’s give me to their weddings days and everything that happens is so heart warming.
The ceilidh dance was so cool to be a part of. This Scottish dance is traditionally held with a live band along with a bag piper. Each song has a unique dance with instructions for the entire group to follow. To see literally every single person in the room be on the dance floor, laughing and trying not to get hit with elbows was crazy. What a cool dance to photography. I was told if I left the party with bruises that was completely normal for a ceilidh dance.
This wedding I photographed completely by myself and couldn’t be more proud. Take a peek at what will go down as one of my most memorable weddings I have ever been a part of. <3
